Mother Cow with all Devatas
Taken from Monthly Kalyan, June 2026
If we consider the divine nature of cow from the
scriptures, then it becomes clear that in every organ of body, in every hair of
its body, is the abode of the Gods. That is why it has been said-
Sarvadevmaye Devi Sarvadevairlankrite
Matarmamabhilashitm safalam kuru
nandini
According to the scriptures, cow is not an animal,
sesame is not an ordinary grain –
'tilan na dhaanya pashvo na gavah' is the nectar noun of cow's milk. What's more, cow
urine and dung make the impure body pure; to make the impure place sacred, cow
urine and cow dung are used for sprinkling and applying on floor. The place
where Mother Cow resides, becomes sacred because it is the place of all Gods
and the place of pilgrimage. It is easy to get rid of sins by donating cow; there
is no limit even to earn good karmas.
In the Ashvamedh Parva of the Mahabharata,
Lord Krishna, while describing the form of mother cow as the most divine and
the place of pilgrimage, says -
'O king! At the time when Kapila cow is
donated to an Agnihotri Brahmin, Vishnu and Indra reside
in the upper part of its horns. At the root of the horns reside the moon and
the Indra. Brahma resides between the horns and Lord Shankar
resides in the forehead. Ashwini Kumars reside in both the ears, Moon
and Sun in the eyes, Marudgan in the teeth, Saraswati in the
tongue, Munigan in the pores, Prajapati in the skin and all four
Vedas including Shadanga Pada and Krama reside in the
breaths.
Fragrances and fragrant flowers reside in the
nostrils, all the Vasuganas reside in the lower lip and fire resides in
the mouth. Sadhya Deity resides in the room, Parvati resides in
the neck, constellations on the back, sky in the place of the stomach, all the
places of pilgrimage in the Apana vayu, Ganga Ji in urin and
Goddess Lakshmi, endowed with eight blessings, resides in the cow dung.
The most beautiful Jyestha Devi resides in the nostrils, ancestors
reside in the buttocks and Bhagwati Rama resides in the tail. All the Vishwadevas
are situated in both the ribs and in the chest resides the happy Shakti-dhari
Kartikeya. Five Vayus reside in the knees and thighs, Gandharvas
reside in the middle of the hooves and snakes reside in the front of the
hooves. The four oceans full of water are its four udders.
In ancient times, Swayambhu Brahmaji had
created Kapila Gau after collecting all the fire from Agnihotra
and light of Brahmins. Kapila cow is the most sacred among the
sacred things, the most auspicious among the auspicious things and the
most virtuous of virtues. She is the best penance among penances, the best fast
among fasts, the best charity among donations and is the inexhaustible cause of
all. Brahma Ji, the Creator of the Universe, has created Kapila
Cow to save the world by extracting the light from all the holy places of
pilgrimage and temples on earth and all the sacred and beautiful things in the
world. Kapila is light of complete brilliance. She is nectar-like, pure,
purifying and excellent.
