Need to explore India’s Cultural Heritage

Travelling teaches many things. It introduces us to the diverse cultures of the world. Tourism is known to provide a massive boost to a nation’s economy. A tourist travels for pleasure, entertainment, business, and education. Today, on September 27, the world is celebrating ‘World Tourism Day’. It is celebrated on September 27 every year.

The purpose of celebrating ‘World Tourism Day’ is to raise awareness about the role of tourism around the world and to promote social, cultural, political and economic values. Interestingly, India is the host country for the World Tourism Day this year and theme is –“Tourism and jobs: a better future for all.” Union Minister for Tourism KJ Alphons on Thursday launched the ‘Incredible India' mobile app and the “Incredible India Tourist Facilitators Certification” programme to promote the World Tourism Day.

The objectives of the celebration this year is to create more and more job opportunities for youths in the tourism sector. The world needed fresh policies to maximize the potential of tourism. Jobs in tourism are also required because it must reflect and incorporate ongoing advances in technology. Tourism can offer many types of jobs but it is often undervalued. However, it is a fact that tourism is generating 10 percent of world jobs.

World Tourism Day was started in view of the importance and popularity of tourism. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) keeps the theme of World Tourism Day different every year to make it purposeful. On this global day, Indian leaders have urged the youth to explore India and its diverse cultural heritage.

India has many scenic and pilgrimage destinations with relevance to Indian history, culture, mythology, and heritage. Over the decade, India’s aim is to become the leader among tourist destinations in the world. No doubt, India is doing well in fostering tourism. There are plenty of tourist attractions in the country which can set the visitors pulse racing. Good connectivity, adequate cleanliness and the so-called certainty factor make tourist place much sought after one.
